Student pronouns (Information for staff)
At registration and annual re-registration, students are given the option to select from a list of pronouns (including a free text field) to specify their chosen pronouns if they wish to do so. They can then add/amend/delete their choice at any time, via the student Self-Service portal. Any chosen student pronouns will be surfaced in Oxford systems, including Canvas.
Note that it may take up to 24 hours for the pronouns to appear in Canvas, due to synchronisation times of the two systems.

The Pronouns tool is available in multiple areas of a Canvas course where student name information can be found and the display settings have been enabled (e.g. People page).
A student can view their own chosen pronouns in various places in Canvas, including in their Account (on the global navigation menu), as well as their account Profile and Settings.
Student pronouns are visible to staff, students and other students in a number of places in Canvas, including Discussions, People (within a course, or in a student group area) and the Student Context Card (which pops out as a panel in People when selecting a student's name).
Student pronouns are also visible to staff only in other places in Canvas, including Assignment Creation, Assignment Peer Review, and list of Sections. Staff can also access student pronouns by selecting the clickable student name in the SignUp tool, which takes the staff user to the student's Profile page.
