Enabling self (or open) enrolment

Q. How do I set my course to be 'joinable' so that students can enrol themselves onto it?

A. Open the course in which you wish to enable self (or open) enrolment:

  • Go to Settings
  • Click more options (beneath the Description field)

  • Select the tick box Let students self-enrol by sharing with them a secret URL.
  • A secret URL will be generated, which you may publicise to relevant students. When they use it, they will be prompted to join the course.
  • If you wish to display a Join this course button on the course home page, select that box too:

  • Click Update Course Details to save these settings

Notes:

  • If you are already enrolled in the course with the Teacher role, you will not see the "Join this course" button on the home page.
  • If students are already enrolled in the course with the Student role, they will see a "Drop this course" option on the home page instead of the "Join this course" button.
