Copyright
This copyright information includes a checklist to be followed before the publication of course pages, as well as links to helpful University and library guidance.
If the works of others have been included in your course, have you obtained permission to use them?
Additionally, have the materials you have used been displayed according to the specifications of the creator?
These are very important questions which demand an answer!
- Unless the material clearly has an open copyright license, educators should be sure to obtain permission before using the work of others.
- Even some open copyright licensed material may have restrictions that could require the user to provide attribution to the original creator; prevent the user from using the material in profit-generating situations; inhibit the modification of material; or inhibit the re-mixing of material.
Note: It is important to ensure that your content does not breach copyright restrictions, otherwise, you or Oxford University could become liable for legal damages or suffer reputational damage.
Copyright checklist for review prior to publishing your course:
- Are all quoted materials or resources cited correctly?
- Have you obtained permission to use copyrighted material such as articles, texts, images, illustrations, music and/or sound?
- Have you obtained permission to link to videos and animations including those on YouTube?
