It is possible for a Local Canvas Coordinator, Unit Administrator or Assistant Unit Administrator to enable Canvas calendars (that already exist for each sub-account) at the account level. This makes it possible to share key dates for departmental, faculty or college events and make them visible to all teachers, administrators and students with access to Canvas courses in that sub-account. Users have the option to subscribe to the calendar under Other Calendars.

1. Admin user: Enable the account level calendar(s)

Log in to Canvas and click on Admin on the global navigation menu. Click the tool Account Calendars:

Each sub-account in Canvas already has an account-level calendar (which is disabled by default). To filter account calendars, enter the calendar name in the search bar, or click the Show All drop-down menu to find (and then select) the Canvas course calendar(s) that you want to enable:

Select the Account calendar(s) that you want users in your unit to be able to add and view in the Other Calendars section of their global Canvas Calendar (see Section 2).

Click the Apply Changes button.

You can add events to the Account calendar just as you would for any other calendar, via the Canvas global calendar.

Notify users in your unit that the calendar exists and they can add it to their Canvas global calendar.

This feature is available for Canvas account and sub-account administrators.
Existing calendar events do not merge to an Account Calendar.
Users are not automatically added to Account Calendars and must subscribe to the Account Calendars to view important dates (see Section 2).
Account Calendar events do not currently display in the Dashboard List View.

2. All users: Subscribe to the account level calendar(s)

If you have been advised about a departmental Canvas calendar, you can add it to your global calendar in Canvas:

Click the Calendar tool on the global navigation menu, and then the plus sign alongside Other Calendars:

Select the departmental calendar you wish to subscribe to, then click Save Changes:

The calendar (with all its events) will now appear in your Canvas global calendar.
