Canvas uses a number of icons to show the learning activities you will see in your course modules.

There are six icons in total:

Assignments are shown as a page being written on with a pencil.

Quizzes are represented by a flying rocket icon.

A paperclip icon is used to represent Files. Any item attached to a module from Files will be represented by a paperclip.

Pages are represented by a page with writing on it, and a folded top right-hand corner.

Discussions are represented by an icon made up of two speech boxes.

External URL/tools are depicted by a ‘chain-link’ symbol.
