Q. How do I embed special fonts in a document (e.g. foreign language characters), to be sure that the person marking my work sees them correctly?

A. If you have the correct fonts installed on your computer (and you can see the text exactly as it should be) then you can force MS Word to embed the fonts in the document so that any reader will see 'the correct fonts'. Then if you create a PDF using 'Save as PDF', it will also have the fonts embedded.
